Columbus, OH

I just took a short road trip w/ the boy to Columbus, OH. We left Sat around 1 and got there in time for dinner w/ a friend from HS and his girlfriend. Instead of going to Momo2 (which, according to the girlfriend, is usually pretty empty), we went to the Japanese restaurant next door instead (called Sushi Ting.... ) because Momo2 was remarkably full of people. Apparently, there was some sort of video came competition going on. Momo2 is quite a unique operation. HS friend described it as bowling/alcohol/food/boba/karaoke/videogames/boardgames - but not at the same time. After food, we eventually decided to hit up the AMC nearby. Max Payne, it was decided, even though nobody anticipated it to be a good movie. Consensus? Worse than expected, even though that seemed pretty hard to do. I think it definitely had potential in terms of plot (it reminded me a lot of Law and Order), but the hallucinations weren't scary or real, making them quite lame. Regardless, it was a fun evening. It is always nice to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

Right now, it seems like everybody is in some sort of transition: trying to figure out where they want to be, where the people they love want to be, what they want to do. It's exciting to hear everybody discuss and think about what they want. Everybody wants something different and has different priorities. I like to think I have this all figured out. :)

That night, we stayed with my friend from Berkeley. She has a beautiful cat named Nill and we had a good time chatting late into the evening. The next morning, we found (in spite of all the detours due to a marathon) a dim sum place and had yummy yummy food.

After this short excursion to Columbus, we headed back to Champaign. Even though I wasn't driving, I was so sleepy! Thank goodness somebody was super nice and drove for me! All in all, it was a good, if tiring, weekend.
